2023 GOW Conference & Exhibition

A highly regarded tech startup in the wind industry, UK-based SENSEWind has quite literally turned the wind sector on its nose in recent years. The company’s unique methodology for installation and maintenance enables a wind turbine to be assembled safely at low levels and then transferred to the top of the tower in a single lift, considerably reducing operational risk and installation time.
2023 proved to be a pivotal year as the company signed critical supplier agreements for upcoming demonstration projects in Scotland and began actively positioning the SENSEWind brand in the market with support from Engagement Lab. A central piece to the 2023 brand-building strategy was a multi-channel approach to one of the offshore wind industry’s most important events – Renewable UK’s Global Offshore Wind Conference & Exhibition (GOW23) held in London.

• Alignment with business objectives: By mid-2023, SENSEWind had pulled together an impressive group of technology partners, product & service delivery partners, and funding support for an upcoming demonstration project. A key objective at GOW23 was to showcase the power of collaboration in support of SENSEWind and how these partnerships would deliver on the promise of the company’s disruptive technology.
• Blending thought leadership with commercial objectives: Leveraging the pioneering career of the SENSEWind board chair, Julian Brown, Engagement Lab secured a speaker placement (“Turning the wind industry on its nose”) and several points of media coverage (“Floating wind future is on-site installation” and “Scottish engineer lands SENSEWind demo job”). The speaker and media components were blended seamlessly with the commercial presentation of the company and its partners at the 6m x 6m booth, which featured a dynamic look at the SENSE technology.
• 360-degree strategic comms approach: Engagement Lab managed all aspects of SENSEWind’s integrated brand presence at GOW23: Developing the over-arching comms brief, goals and objectives, key messages, booth design and logistics, interfacing with conference organizers, speaker prep, media outreach and placement, social media posts, and post-conference reporting.

SENSEWind not only raised its profile in the industry as a result of the 360 approach at GOW23, but also formed promising new relationships with major industry stakeholders.
• SENSEWind and its partners teamed up for a joint project booth, highlighting the project’s value to the floating offshore industry. This resulted in dozens of scanned leads from interested parties over the 2-day event
• Julian Brown delivered a presentation titled, “Turning the wind turbine industry on its nose” to a full house in the Energy Transition Zone in the exhibition hall
• SENSEWind was featured prominently within event news through two media stories:

2. Caley contract signing in Renews’ Day 2 digital show dailies (“Scottish engineer lands SENSEWind demo job”)
