As the voice of the global solar PV industry, the Global Solar Council turned to Engagement Lab to gather insights into its positioning in the market, develop a comprehensive brand framework that mirrored its ambitious strategic priorities, and put all of that together into an all-inclusive brand book, renewed web presence, and launch campaign short film which debuted in Shanghai and Munich in June 2024.

Established in 2015 to represent the interests of the global solar PV industry, the Global Solar Council (GSC) found itself at the beginning of 2024 in need of a new brand and renewed vision – an identity that reflected the organization’s passion and ambition for the future.
With a need for a more comprehensive, insights-based brand framework, including updated visual identity, new website, value proposition, tone of voice, and other elements, GSC came to Engagement Lab. Together, we framed the scope of work around the objective to create a strong association brand that showed the value of membership to the organization’s corporate and national association members.

• Depth Interviews: Our team conducted internal depth interviews, including individual sessions with the CEO and the Strategy & Communications Director, along with a group interview involving members of the Executive Committee. We also conducted external group interviews with key industry stakeholders such as Solar Power Europe, the Global Renewables Alliance, and the Global Strategic Communications Council. A comprehensive Insights Report was presented, summarizing the findings of the research and providing clear direction for the implementation phase.
• Ideation/Concepting: The Engagement Lab creative team quickly went to work, armed with valuable insights from the completed research. Individual project tracks were created to manage the full scope of the work, including visual identity, brand platform and positioning, and website development. Managing these three phases efficiently, in collaboration with GSC staff, meant that we could unveil the new brand and website at critical industry events in both Shanghai and Munich in June 2024.
• Implementation and Final Delivery: Engagement Lab delivered a final logo, brand book (complete with brand core, brand positioning, and brand persona), and final website – on time and on budget. Additionally, we supported the global launch with input to GSC’s strategic comms activities, and produced a launch campaign short film which told the story of the organization’s new brand, dedication to its members, and renewed vision for the future.
